Vintage Hand-Painted French Provincial Floral Kitchen Tin with Lid & Saucer

Very lovely French Provincial toleware hand-painted kitchen tin with a hinged lid, small handle (below the lid hinge) and attached red saucer underneath.

These types of tins were common in French provincial kitchens during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, often used to store coffee, chicory or sugar.  Some of these tins were hand-painted by local artisans or owners to add a decorative touch to the home.  They represent the 'art populaire' or folk art tradition of rural France.
