An antique French blue and white transferware wash jug and bowl by Sarreguemines. The jug and bowl both have a picture of a cockerel in flight alongside flowers and leave, with a geometric pattern around the rim of the bowl. Both are in good condition, but there is a small crack in the glaze on the spout of the jug which does not detract from the functionality of the piece.
Sarreguemines was made by the Utzschneider familly and their partners in the town of Sarreguemines in Lorraine, France. It is suggested that these pieces date back to the late 19th & early 20th centuries of essential components of bedroom washing sets.
The bowl and jug are available individually or as a set.
