Very beautifyl mid 20th century Italian Florentine hand-painted wooden tray with gilt frame. These decorative trays were popular in the 20th century - workers carved wooden bases and applied layers of gesso before hand-gilding the raised borders and painting intricate floral arrangements onto th edark centre. I love the contrast of the colours and gold gilt against the black.
